Build a ‘Just Objects’ Drawing
Objects hold stories about relationships, experiences and times in our life that have shaped us. They help us literally hold onto something about ourselves, our loved ones and our histories. The objects we collect around us speak to our values, hopes, and identities.
The final size is determined during sketching and depends on the number of objects and their sizes, but I can usually give you ballpark idea once I know what will be included, which you will be prompted share with me during checkout.
If you prefer, you can contact me first (before adding anything to your cart or checking out) and I can provide a quote and even make you an invoice to cover everything. Some people find this easier than having to add each item below to your cart and then check out. To start that process, use this contact form or just email me.
Add a small object.
Examples of small objects: camera, mug or wine glass, pizza slice, small stuffed animal.
Add your names, a few words, a phrase, a short quote or significant dates to your portrait.
(If you are already getting full scenery, text is included with that.)
Add a medium object.
Examples of medium objects: wheel barrow, large potted plant, simple table or stool.
Add a large object.
Examples of large objects: Tent, grill, bike, upholstered chair.
Some ideas are:
- someone's favorite things
- a couple or family "portrait" expressed through the objects that define their togetherness.
- objects associated with a certain event or life moment (items from a job that someone is retiring from, certain decorations or items featured at a wedding...)
- momentos or heirlooms handed down from family members.
- objects that define each decade of someone’s life for a big birthday or anniversary year.
- thematic objects, like all the things one might take on a camping trip, all the potted plants in ones home, kitchen gadgets, favorite foods…
- I have also drawn single objects - like a favorite stuffed animal or a favorite type of mayonnaise!
